On the first morning of the AWT Summer Experiment the forecaster at the GOES-R desk has been getting acclimated with the products we are demonstrated. We have noticed that "most" of the air traffic has been rerouting around the MCS to and from Hartsfield-Jackson this morning. Although base reflectivity from BMX did depict a sub-severe squall line pushing to the south-southeast, the OT algorithm did detect three OTs within the line that would be difficult to determine in the radar products (lime green detections in Fig. 1). You can see that as the MCS continues to the south and weakens the traffic picks up behind the MCS to and from ATL in Figure 3 across central AL.
