The 2013 Summer Experiment at the AWT

It seems appropriate that the kickoff of the 2013 Summer Experiment at the Aviation Weather Testbed begins with lightning flashing outside the window here in Kansas City!

Our participants have begun to arrive and we anticipate a busy week here at the AWT. This year we've got a long list of GOES-R products being demonstrated including the Simulated Satellite Imagery, the Nearcast, Convective Initiation, Cloud Top Cooling, Overshooting Tops, Cloud Properties, and a number of lightning datasets including the PGLM, the GLD, and also the ENI. Examples of several of these are shown in the loop below:

Examples of the Nearcast Theta-E Difference, Simulated WV imagery, GOES-R CI, PGLM overlaid with the GLD, and PGLM overlaid with ENI

Stayed tuned to the blog for updates on the experiment progress, areas of focus for the day, various interesting cases and other information!
