The 2014 Summer Experiment in the AWT

Welcome to the kick off of the 2014 Summer Experiment at the Aviation Weather Testbed. This week we will have a full house, with 30-50 participants each day! These participants will be cycling through a variety of desks...

  • CONUS C&V Desk
  • This desk will utilize the suite of experimental and operational numerical guidance and observations as guidance for forecasting ceiling and visibility across the CONUS.

  • TROPICAL C&V Desk
  • This desk will focus on the utility of various model data, lightning data, observations, and satellite products as ceiling, visibility, and convection guidance for issuing products over the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska.

  • AWS for Convection Desk
  • This desk will issue event-driven Aviation Weather Statements for the CONUS in areas of high traffic demand in the 0-4 hour time frame for convection.

  • Supporting AWS Desk
  • This desk will provide support for the desk issuing the Aviation Weather Statements.

  • Two Supporting GOES-R Desks
  • These desks will evaluate the suite of GOES-R data and products both for C&V and for convection, and help support the three desk issuing products.

Look for real-time posts throughout the day, not only from the two supporting desks, but from the three forecast desks as well!
