Day 5 of our experiment looks to be relatively calm compared to what we've seen the past few days. However, we still have noted four separate locations to keep an eye on.
FL and the Gulf of Mexico had our attention yesterday, and will continue to be an area of interest for today. Convection is still ongoing over the southern Gulf, and we anticipate continued rapid development of cells in the northern Gulf and over the northern FL peninsula. Similar to yesterday, we anticipate possible traffic constrains to Jacksonville and Miami Centers, as well as the Gulf routes.
As the MCV over TX continues to dissipate, we anticipate any convective activity will slowly diminish. The NearCasting is still showing some instability in this area, and as such, may still have a chance for convection initiation. We will keep an eye on this area for the potential traffic constraints to Fort Worth and Houston Center, but don't anticipate any significant issues today.
The NearCasting model is showing some instability in Minnesota, and the SPC has put out a slight risk over the northern half of the state. We are anticipating convection initiation here and the possibility of traffic constrains to Minneapolis Center later this afternoon.
The Northeast has also been an area of interest for the majority of the week, and that will continue today. Given the clouds currently in the area, the NearCasting model was unable to show areas of instability. However, the SPC issued a slight risk for northern New England and we anticipate convective initiation later in the afternoon, as well as potential traffic constrains through the entire Northeast, particularly around Boston Center.
